From Rotterdam to a hotel in the beautiful city of Paris

The culture of elegance can be very stressful. One thing I have not worked out is why Parisians do not get dirty. My children come home from school with scuffed shoes and mud-splashed coats. Their French classmates, in round-collar shirts and corduroy, with dreamy names like Clementine and Aurelie, look like them from a catalog. Mothers at the school gate always perfectly turned-out, silk scarf knotted just so. Children are taught from an early age the value of look and appearance. hôtel à Paris or apartments, on floors are white sofa there was not used as a gymnastics apparatus for infants. Maybe living amidst the elegance of geometric hotel Paris centre itself, with its tree-lined Haussmann boulevards and charming bridges, a form of orderly style. Even now I find it almost an insult to spot a grown man dressed in shorts and trainers belted through the Place des Vosges or the Pont Neuf. Tourists in bright jackets cluster around monuments and museums. But the domestic, historical center of Paris to the local bakery, the école elle mater next to the office building is still firmly French. Or perhaps the answer lies outside Paris hotel, in the broader French mentality. From Descartes to Dior, the French have long valued rational order and tight lines. It is learned at school, where the mathematics is rigorous from an early age and as the most prestigious specialty in school baccalaureate exam.

My daughter is an English teacher once tried to explain why they are so little creative writing in French in primary education: it takes billiges Hotel Paris for many years master the strict rules of French grammar, she said that there was simply no time. Rules and conformity are the dominant note. Until relatively recently, you could only your children names from official lists. Even today, purebred dogs born in a given year should be given names that begin with an official designated letter of the alphabet. This year is the letter e. I have a confession, but: I do not really technically live in Parijs hotel. The peaceful look on the Seine, where we live, with its 17th century castle and former royal hunting forest, is 14 miles west of downtown. It is 18 minutes from the Champs-Elysees on the RER rapid underground, and when English friends visit, they say to stay in Paris. But real Parisians find that strange. For them, hôtels à Paris right is ringed by the périphérique, covering an area as small that, in addition to London, it would not achieve Islington to Fulham. Even today, you must hotels in Paris of the périphérique via Portes, named after the gates that once guarded the walled city.

Wonderful weekend in a hotel in Amsterdam

The exciting, cosmopolitan city hotel Amsterdam is one of Europe's leading tourist destinations and offers a wide variety of attractions for visitors to explore. Famed for its canals, coffee shops, art galleries, architecture, museums and large red-light district, this city is a thriving metropolis that has a relaxed, easy going charm. hotel in Amsterdam began as a small fishing village in the late 12th century and was not long until he won the city title in 1300. It was built at the mouth of the river Amstel, where a dam was formed and so the city called "Amsteldam" later "Amsterdam". The city is located in the west of the southern shore of the North Sea and because of this location is now a thriving seaport and a popular stop-off for cruise ships.

There is so much history to explore in this city. It performs as one of the largest historic city in Europe is around 7,000 historic buildings have been registered! And because the city has suffered no major damage during the First World War, a large part of the streetscape has remained the same since the beginning of the 19th century. goedkoop Hotel Amsterdam is known for its canals, which is an excellent example of 17th century urban development. You could say that luxe hotels Amsterdam is a floating city as it consists of more than 90 islands connected by more than 400 bridges! We believe that one of the best things about Hotel Amsterdam Zentrum is that the main attractions (Dam, the Museum Quarter, the Anne Frank House) are within a relatively short walking distance of most hotels in the center. Amsterdam is also a popular destination for conferences and exhibitions, many of which are held in the RAI complex on the south side of the city, which is one of the busiest conference and exhibition in the world! Hotel Amsterdam is known for its cycle-friendly network so we can recommend that a soft piece of stairs is a great way for the city. Add in the fact that local people are both relaxed and friendly and you will see that there is still much more to Amsterdam than wooden shoes and tulips!

Some people think hotels in Amsterdam, they think of a Hedonist paradise where marijuana and prostitution are legal. Scantily clad women stand in store windows advertising their "goods" and dirty backpackers from around the world cram themselves in cheap hotels for the opportunity to smoke some weed killer pass and in doorways. luxe hotels Amsterdam already, but in fact pot is not legal, and attractions are only a small part of what this beautiful, ancient city has to offer. You can explore the narrow, cobbled streets and winding canals, enjoy a Rembrandt or Van Gogh masterpiece or just sit in a cafe watching the constant stream of bicycles, mopeds and pedestrians, and you realize that millions of people come to visit this city for its lax vice laws, but because just one of the most beautiful and fun places in the world. Everyone speaks perfect English, if you during a stay in a hôtel à Amsterdam centre certainly say ! Unlike in other European countries, it's not really necessary to stumble your way through a number of carefully practiced phrases in their language before they can help you. The Dutch are proud of the fact that they speak different languages and they are not so interested in your version of the distinctive, gorge different sound that is used in many of their words. In a hotel in Amsterdam centrum nobody will be bored!

From Rotterdam to a hotel in Bruges

The last time I city trip Bruges made and thus a hotel Brugge talk about it, I seriously deepened in the history of the city. Lots of interesting things though. Bruges (Brugge) was founded in the 9th century by the Vikings who founded here at the end of the river 'the Reie settled. The name Bruges is probably derived from the old-Scandinavian word 'Brygga', meaning 'port' or 'Location' means. Because of the proximity of the North Sea, the settlement quickly became an important international port. A sea-arm, the Zwin, Bruges alliance with the North Sea. The young settlement acquired city rights already in the 12th century. At that time was a protective wall around the city built.

The hotel in Brugge where I stayed, was not far from an important remnant of this wall. The Zwin but gradually began to close slibben. This would lead to major problems for the city, were it not that Bruges is this situation trying to adapt by creating outports in Damme and Sluis. Furthermore, the carriage of goods by land was more and more common. In the 13th century Bruges was an important international trade city. Traders from across the then known world came to town to sell their products to each other and to buy Flemish tapestries, an internationally acclaimed textile product, produced in different Flemish cities (eg in Gent). In the early 14th century Bruges was the scene of political unrest between the citizens and the count of Flanders, also the name of a restaurant next to my hotel in Bruges located. This unrest tried the French King County Flanders punishment, but the population is hit the French garrison on May 18, 1302 to beat.

The manager of my hotel Brugge showed still very proud of this (single) Brugse victory, that history would be. In the 14th century Bruges Brugge also showed an international financial center to be. Several countries had their own representation in Bruges: the Italians, the Germans, Scots, Spaniards, etc. They toverden the city into a truly European center where different languages could be heard and where the most exotic products could be found. In the basement of my hotels Bruges were many of these beautiful objects displayed. The decline of the city's wealth began in the 15th century: the unstoppable silting of the Zwin, competition with the larger port of Antwerp and the crisis in the cloth industry led all in less commercial activity. The crisis was not immediately noticeable. Bruges was beautiful late-Gothic buildings and churches, construction, and the Flemish painting school (with the brothers Van Eyck and Hans Memling) started to flourish as never before. In the beautifully decorated hall of my hôtel a Bruges was a beautiful replica of a genuine painting by Van Eyck. By the end of the 16th century, the old glory forever a thing of the past and Bruges slipped into a hibernation that would last several centuries. New textile industry was introduced in the 19th century, but that has not helped. In the middle of the 1800 Bruges was the poorest city in Belgium.

'Bruges La Morte, as a sign in my hôtel Bruges was written, was a fact. The 20th century, however, brought new life. The city was discovered by international tourism and the important medieval heritage turned out to be a new source of wealth for the 'Venice of the North'. Today will also countless people to the city for at least one night in a Hotel Brügge to stay, budget hotels Bruges to luxury hotels Bruges. Economic and industrial has been an important evolution occurred. The new port of Zeebrugge (about 15 km outside the town to the Belgian coast) brought new developments and new industries to the region.

Very much hotels Bruges benefited from these new developments. Who to Bruges, may hours Idyllic walks along misty canals make nostalgic rides in open carriages, wrapped in the cozy warm woolen blankets, everything ends with a top class meal in one of the many gourmet restaurants. In the clear air of winter, the historic center of old Bruges even more romantic, poëtischer, mysterious. It's almost as if the world waits for the city coldest months, until the crowd of summer visitors have gone, to its most charming side show. The friendly residents of the West-Flemish capital and the owners of both the luxe hotels Brugge goedkope hotels Brugge the visitors with their enthusiasm to impress to show that their city is dotted with attractions such as beautiful Groening Museum, Our Lady of Our Lady and the Belfry with the Halls.

Wonderful weekend in a hotel in Rotterdam

I'll tell you guys a little bit more about a truly fascinating city: Rotterdam. Not surprisingly I do this now, since I just got back from a very interesting and fulfilling weekend in a very fine hotel in Rotterdam. Rotterdam is Europe’s largest port, and the second largest city of the Netherlands after Amsterdam. With a very upbeat and cosmopolitan population, Rotterdam has a fast, urban pace of life, with cultural events, clubs, pubs and bars, which attract interest not just from other parts of the Netherlands, but from across Europe and beyond.

This is all set against the backdrop of Rotterdam’s stunning modern architecture. The lady at the reception in my Rotterdam hotel told me that people often jokingly used to say that Rotterdam was the place for earning the money, and Amsterdam was the place for spending it. However people are re-thinking this old saying, as Rotterdam is now a magnet in its own right for those seeking a good night out, so much so, that it is now the popular place for Amsterdam residents to go for fun weekends.

So things are gradually shifting and this is highly notable, not in the least in the number of guests in Rotterdam hotels. I was one of them, and very glad so. Rotterdam has an impressive and varied music scene, and hosts a number of popular summer music festivals such as the Latin American-style Summer Carnival, the Metropolis Pop Festival, and the North Sea Jazz Festival. Rotterdam is also home to hardcore techno groups such as Neophyte.

Unfortunately, during my stay in my hotels in Rotterdam, I never had time to go and do stuff like that, work work work was on my mind. Next time I decide to stay at a hotel Rotterdam I'll definitely try to enjoy more of the city's nice features, museums for instance. Rotterdam is not short of them – take your pick from The Netherlands Architecture Institute, The Historical Museum, The Maritime Museum, The Natural History Museum, or the Volkenkundig Museum, which covers various peoples and cultures around the world. If you like to see animals there is a zoo, and for marine life viewing there is Oceanium, which is a walkthrough sea aquarium where you can see many fascinating species of fish.

Rotterdam is not just a place for city break, but a place that you can keep coming back to and so are the hotels in Rotterdam, definitely!

Hotel Van Walsum

The Hotel Van Walsum is located on a pleasant tree lined avenue in a quiet neighbourhood, yet close to the centre of Rotterdam.

This hotel Rotterdam has a very cosy Dutch atmosphere and an attractive meeting area and bar, separate lounge with tv, lift, also a secluded terraced garden and a parking.

Rooms include private bath or shower, telephone, TV and WIFI internet. Without hesitation one of the best hotels in Rotterdam I've ever been!
